How does event planning work?
Create an event, set a budget, and invite your friends. Shariz handles contribution collection through secure escrow, tracks all expenses with approval workflows, and gives everyone real-time visibility into the event finances.
Who holds the money?
TradeSafe does, in its trust account as an independent South African escrow provider. Shariz never holds your funds. We're the software that instructs TradeSafe, and we operate no account your money passes through. We explain exactly what we can and can't do with it on our Trust page.
What does Shariz charge?
2.9% of each contribution, taken from the event's pooled funds, and nothing on refunds or payouts. TradeSafe charges its own escrow and card fee on top, which it sets. Full breakdown on our Pricing page, because we'd rather you knew the cut up front.
Is my card information secure?
Card details are entered on TradeSafe's payment page and never reach Shariz servers, so we don't see or store them. That's a specific claim about card data, and it is narrower than a blanket promise about your money. That one depends entirely on the custody arrangement we describe on our Trust page.
Can I split bills unequally?
Absolutely! Shariz offers flexible splitting options - equal splits, item-by-item assignment, or custom amounts for each participant. Perfect for any dining scenario.
What happens if someone commits and then doesn’t pay?
Honestly: nothing forces them to. Shariz can't compel payment, doesn't advance money to cover a shortfall, and isn't a debt collector. What actually happens is that the event doesn't reach its target. You can see exactly who has and hasn't contributed, send reminders, lower the target, cover the gap between the rest of you, or cancel. If you cancel, everything already contributed is refunded to the people who paid it. Deciding what to do about the person who didn't pay is between you and them.
