Getting Started
How do I create an account?
Download the Shariz app from the App Store or Google Play. Open the app and tap "Sign Up." You can create an account using your email address, phone number, or by connecting with your Google or Apple account. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your profile.
Is Shariz free to use?
Yes! Shariz is free to download and use for splitting bills. Standard payment processing fees may apply depending on your payment method and region, but these are clearly displayed before any transaction.
What devices are supported?
Shariz is available on iOS 14.0+ (iPhone and iPad) and Android 8.0+ devices. The app is optimized for both smartphones and tablets, providing a seamless experience across all your devices.
Bill Scanning
How does bill scanning work?
Simply tap the camera icon and take a photo of your receipt. Our AI-powered OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology automatically extracts items, prices, tax, tip, and totals. You can review and edit any details before finalizing the bill split.
What if the scan isn't accurate?
No problem! After scanning, you can manually edit any item names, prices, or add missing items. You can also delete incorrectly scanned items. The app gives you full control to ensure accuracy before splitting the bill.
Can I manually enter a bill instead of scanning?
Absolutely! You can choose to manually enter bill details if you prefer. Just tap "Manual Entry" instead of the camera icon, and add items, prices, and other details manually. This is perfect for digital receipts or when scanning isn't available.
Tips for better scanning results
For best scanning results:
- Ensure good lighting - avoid shadows on the receipt
- Flatten the receipt and avoid wrinkles
- Capture the entire receipt in the frame
- Hold your phone steady and parallel to the receipt
- Make sure text is clear and in focus
Payments & Security
Is my payment information secure?
Yes! We use bank-level 256-bit SSL encryption to protect all your data. Payment card information is never stored on our servers - we use secure, PCI-DSS compliant payment processors. All transactions are encrypted and monitored for fraud prevention.
What payment methods are accepted?
Shariz accepts major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), debit cards, and bank transfers. Digital wallet options like Apple Pay and Google Pay are also supported for faster checkout.
How long does it take to receive payments?
Once a participant pays their share, funds are typically transferred to your linked bank account within 1-3 business days. Instant transfers may be available for an additional fee depending on your region.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If you paid for a bill by mistake or the bill was cancelled, you can request a refund through the app. Contact the bill organizer first to resolve the issue. If needed, reach out to our support team at [email protected] for assistance with refunds.
Troubleshooting
I'm not receiving notifications
Check the following:
- Ensure notifications are enabled for Shariz in your device settings
- Check your in-app notification preferences (Settings → Notifications)
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection
- Try logging out and back in to refresh your session
- Update to the latest version of the app
The app is crashing or freezing
Try these steps:
- Force close the app and reopen it
- Restart your device
- Check for app updates in the App Store or Google Play
- Clear the app cache (Settings → Storage)
- If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall the app

I forgot my password
On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?" Enter your email address or phone number, and we'll send you a password reset link. Follow the instructions in the email/SMS to create a new password. If you don't receive the reset link, check your spam folder or contact support.
How do I delete my account?
To delete your account: Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. You'll need to settle all outstanding bills before deletion. Note that this action is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
